NYC Health + Hospitals/Coney Island, located in Southern Brooklyn, accommodates more than 250,000 outpatient visits, more than 89,000 emergency room visits, and with 371 beds, more than 15,000 inpatient admissions annually. The hospital maintains a strong academic affiliation with SUNY Downstate Medical Center and New York College of Osteopathic Medicine in order to maintain its high standards of healthcare delivery.

Responsibilities

Performs ultrasonography services in accordance with standards established by the hospital as well as Federal, State, and Local standards.
Receives patients and explains procedure to them in order to allay anxieties and obtain patients' cooperation during performance of the procedure.
Obtains pertinent clinical information prior to ultrasound examination. Prepares patient prior to examination and assists the patient in assuming the required anatomical body position for each specific procedure, as appropriate. Selects appropriate ultrasonic technical and recording parameters, in accordance with established protocols and good ultrasonography practices.
Monitors patients and equipment condition during procedure and reports changes to appropriate health care professional.
Knowledge of Patient Safety Requirements
Performs procedures of a more complex nature as determined by the Radiologist. Assists in the conduct of specialized tests and studies.
Maintains adequate supplies and equipment, and is responsible for:
-reporting equipment problems
-cleanliness of equipment and ultrasonography room
-following inventory control procedures including sign in and sign out of film supplies.
Records all information pertaining to the examination performed onto the patient request form, department log sheets and/or logbooks, including any information which will be helpful to the Radiologist or which describes limitations of the examination performed.
Provides for proper image identification & bodily habitus measurements, in the manner prescribed by the Department of Radiology, and is directly responsible for assuring that all images are labeled properly and completely.
Assists the Radiologist in the performance of specialized procedures, when required.
Participates in Quality Control Procedures, including equipment performance testing in accordance with the established Quality Control Program.
Assists in scheduling and performs all related ultrasonography paperwork.
Keeps abreast of new trends and techniques in Ultrasonography, and participates in department and hospital continuing education programs.
Keeps aware of and practices the guidelines and recommended for general safety, electrical safety, radiation safety, and the proper handling of hazardous materials.
Participates in staff meeting and continuing education meetings.
Schedule:
All shifts available!
First Shift: 8 am - 4 pm
Second Shift: 4 pm - 12 am
Third Shift: 12 am - 8 am
Alternating weekends - one day off during the week when you work weekends

Qualifications

High School graduate or equivalent
Graduate of an AMA approved Ultrasound Program
Registry as a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer. (RDMS)
Proof of COVID-19 vaccine required prior to hire
