Sinai Health System 2587 - ON CALL HOSPITALITY SERVICES PERSON in Chicago, Illinois


Supports dietary, environmental or transportation services departments. Responsible for filling roles when primary staff is unavailable.


  • Is aware of and available for assigned hours.

  • Contacts call center, and if needed, checks in with the applicable supervisor when called in. Prepares and delivers patient meal trays according to restricted diet guidelines, HACCP and department standards

  • Dates and labels all food products.

  • Performs cleaning and sanitation duties according to department standards Environmental Services Duties

  • Cleans floors appropriately – dust and wet mop tile, vacuum carpet.

  • Dusts furniture, washes walls, ceiling, woodwork, windows, door panels, door handles, shelves, and fixtures in lobbies, lounges, rest rooms, corridors, elevators, stairways and other assigned areas.

  • Clean and disinfect any equipment or other items containment as appropriate under the hospital guidelines.

  • Clean and disinfect beds. Remove old linen and make patient beds

  • Cleans and replenish/hangs draperies and cubicle curtains. Washes blinds

  • Empties and cleans wastebaskets, transports trash to disposal areas

  • Replenishes and distributes bathroom and other supplies as needed.

  • Notifies supervisor promptly of completed/cleaned and disinfected patient rooms, which are available for occupancy.

  • Demonstrates knowledge of required protective apparel in designated hospital areas.

  • Demonstrates proper procedures regarding the mandatory requirements of the EPA on the segregation of all hospital-contaminated waste Transportation Services Duties

  • Determines patient name, destination, mode of travel, time and other data, following written or oral instructions

  • Directs or escorts incoming patients form admitting office or reception desk to designated area

  • Assists patient in walking to prevent accidents by falling, or transports non-ambulatory patient with wheelchair.

  • Transports patient, alone or with assistance, in bed, wheeled cart, or wheelchair to designated areas with in facility during patient stay

  • Delivers patient specimens and samples to designated lab as needed or scheduled.

  • Demonstrates knowledge in safe transport techniques.

  • Maintains understanding of all areas of the institution including buildings, departments, and information areas

  • Communicates well both to patients and to dispatcher for assignments

  • Performs other duties as assigned


  • Prior experience in dietary, environmental or transportation services within healthcare or hospitality setting desired
