The Patient Access Team Lead is responsible for: performing scheduling, registration, patient authorization and admission, reception and discharge functions. They will ensure Patient Access Representatives obtain complete and accurate patient demographic information during check-in. They will oversee Patient Access representatives, ensure that the Representatives adhere to compliant patient liability collection techniques before, during and after date of service as well as assist with cross-training and/or support of multiple functions across all patient and payer types.

Acting in a team lead capacity through on-shift assignment, the Patient Access Team Leader is responsible for leading the activities that occur during any shift that he/she is assigned to. This will include staff movement to meet patient/provider demand, point-of-service/patient-facing interactions relating to the patient registration and admission process as well as ensure patient satisfaction by consistently representing LCMC professionally while carrying out the responsibilities of the position .



Minimum Required:

  • High school diploma or equivalent


  • Associates degree


    Minimum Required:

  • 3 years total experience in a customer service related position, such as hospital, clinic, medical office, business services/revenue cycle, front line registration, financial counseling, banking, retail or hospitality including 1 years of direct patient access experience.


  • Experience Electronic Medical Record Systems

  • 4 years of experience in a healthcare related field



  • CHAM, CHAA, Certification as a Medical Assistant, or other medical specialty-based certification

    Special Skills/Training:


  • Experience in EPIC or other Electronic Medical Record

  • Experience using a variety of computer systems / programs and general data entry.

  • Excellent customer service, interpersonal, and conflict resolution skills.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills; ability to work collaboratively with other departments and functional areas and effectively gather and disseminate information to a diverse range of people.

  • Basic prioritization, time management, and organizational skills; ability to handle several tasks and interruptions in a positive manner

  • Excellent decision-making skills; sound judgment in handling/escalating difficult situations

  • Good analytical skills with a strong attention to detail

  • Proficiency in computers
