Under the leadership of the Director of Medical Imaging Services and supervision of the Lead Mammography Tech, performs procedures at a technical level requiring no constant supervision of technical detail on patients of all ages. Performs a variety of technical procedures that will require independent judgement, with ingenuity and initiative. Assumes responsibility for designated areas or procedures as required including quality control and performance improvement monitoring.


  • Assesses patient condition, assures patient safety through proper use of restraint/support devices under staff guidance.

  • Identifies each patient, reviews orders for consistent (examination ordered/clinical diagnosis)

  • Shall be capable of operating all Mammography equipment to include DEXA, perform all mammography procedures, operate the PACS and utilize radiographic supplies per department standards

  • Records mammography history required by American College of Radiology (ACR), i.e., physician’s name, technologist’s name, date, explanation of limited exam, etc

  • Identifies anatomical orientation on all required images and assures patient identification visible on all images.

  • Implements care in a knowledgeable, skillful, consistent and continuous manner to ensure the delivery of quality care according to age specific guidelines ranging from adolescent to geriatrics

Basic Qualifications

Graduate of an approved discipline specific program (or equivalent experience) : Graduate of a JRCERT accredited Radiologic Technology Program or equivalent

Licensure, Certification, and/or Registration (LCR):

  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologists Required
